SATSOFT/PAM Analytic Phased Array Model

Expand the capabilities of SATSOFT with the Analytic Phased Array Model. Provides multi-beam and shaped beam capabilities with the same ease of use as SATSOFTs other antenna models. The model calculates diffraction-limited component beams from a rectangular array fed by a Butler Matrix. Patterns are of the form

Component beams can be combined together to form shaped beams using SATSOFT's mini-max optimizer, which calculates the complex weights realized by the beam forming network. Both rectangular and triangular element lattices can be modeled. The element factor can be turned off to facilitate viewing of the grating lobes, making it easier to determine the element spacing needed for a particular scan requirement. The simplified model has the advantage of very rapid computation.
When combined with SATSOFT/PRO, multiple shaped beams can be synthesized simultaneously. This makes it possible to produce constant-flux multibeam coverages for LEO and MEO applications.
